What I meant to say is that the applications of social media are company-wide, essentially it can have an impact in HR, Marketing, CRM, Alliances and Partnerships etc.

I agree with Nick and Andy that the most important part of implementation is to speak to the C-Suite and to get their sign-off. No implementation will be totally successful if it has to work around in-built company divisions. 

If you can negotiate sign-off at board level then the next problem is to develop advocates in every division. Financing shouldn&#039;t be a problem as the money men are already fans of the work and will arrange a separate stipend for SM.

The best way to develop these relationships is through training sessions, which act as much as a creds presentation as they do an education forum. This ensures that the relationship is based around consultancy and trust.
