How much should you share?

The Forrester blogger debate is an interesting one. For those of you that don’t know, here are the spark notes; Forrester released new guidelines that instruct analysts to host anything analysty on the Forrester blog, not a personally branded one.

Most of you won’t have gotten this far, as it seems a bit dull, but for those that fought on past that turgid first forty words here’s your treat; the Forrester stuff reopens the ‘how much is too muchdebate. The internet is great, social media is great, but where should we draw the line with how much information we share? We all need to make a living, how to we contribute to our community while still retaining some of that USP that organisations want?

  • Hey Jed,

I absolutely love the sum up here, in that it reframes the individual vs. team popularity question with a better question. It seems to me that this doesn't have to be an either/or question. There is a balance point.

From everything I've read from the sum up links, it seems to me that Forrester has moved too far in one direction after losing a few higher profiled analysts.

    Best,
    Rich

    Hey jed,

    Hope you're well.
Cool little post, something sort of similar that is happening in the PR realm is 'an Inconvenient PR Truth'..think it'l be my next topic!
